Born in 1960, Stanley Wong Ping-pui, better known as anothermountainman on the art scene, is a renowned designer and contemporary artist.

Following five years as a graphic designer, Wong began his career in the advertising industry, working as Chief Executive and Creative Director for many international advertising agencies. Fifteen years later, his passion and enthusiasm for creative visuals saw him branch out and become a film director for television commercials. He established 84000 Communications in 2007.

During his career, Wong has received more than 600 local, Asian and international awards for his art, design, photography and advertising works, including two US One Show gold awards, D&AD Yellow Pencil awards from the UK, and a Tokyo TDC award.

His works have also been exhibited in more than 200 local and international museum and gallery shows, including solo shows at Tokyo’s Ginza Graphic Gallery (ggg) in 2015, and Time Will Tell, a retrospective of 40 years’ work at Hong Kong Heritage Museum, in 2019-20. Collectors of his works include M+, Hong Kong’s global museum of visual culture, other Hong Kong museums, and London’s V&A Museum.

Wong is passionate about photography and creative mediums with a strong focus on social issues. Over the past two decades, he has gained international awareness for Red, White and Blue, a series of works promoting the ‘positive spirit of Hong Kong’, which he presented at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005, representing Hong Kong.

In the last two decades, he has dedicated himself to creative education, travelling to give lectures and workshops in Hong Kong and throughout Asia. In May 2012, he was named the Artist of the Year 2011 (Visual Arts) at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. He received the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards 2012 from Hong Kong Museum of Art, and in 2020, he was named DFA World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer.
