Pooroni Rhee

Pooroni is an illustrator and a graphic designer based in Seoul, South Korea. Her interests are visual narrative and storytelling, studying the relationship between design/art, ambiguity/clarity and verbal/pictorial. She has experimented with media and boundaries of illustration and use of pattern and organic forms. She grew up in Korea and Jordan and studied painting as an undergraduate at Rhode Island School of Design, before earning an MFA and Doctor of Design from Seoul National University. Pooroni was chosen as the Next Generation Design Leader by South Korea’s Ministry of Industry and Energy, and is an associate professor in the Department of Design, University of Seoul.
